Vintage pocket cigarette case produced in the USSR during the 1960s–1970s, featuring a beautifully detailed high-relief design celebrating the iconic Moscow Planetarium and the Soviet era's deep fascination with astronomy and space exploration.
The front of the case showcases the distinctive modernist architectural dome of the Moscow Planetarium building. The sky above the dome is filled with a dense, intricately stamped constellation pattern featuring multi-pointed stars, twinkling starbursts, and planetary orbits set against a finely textured, sparkling stipple background. At the base of the architectural structure, a smooth ribbon scroll banner features the stylized engraved Cyrillic inscription "МОСКВА — ПЛАНЕТАРИЙ" (Moscow — Planetarium). This highly collectible Space Age piece features a refined silver-tone finish with an authentic aged patina.
This vintage cigarette case has been restored: the metal has been cleaned and polished, minor touch-ups have been applied where the original finish was lost, and, if needed, the internal elastic bands have been replaced. The original aesthetics have been preserved, making it a great addition to any collection. The side locking mechanism is completed with a mechanical push-button closure.
