Vintage pocket metal cigarette case produced in the USSR during the 1960s–1970s, featuring an exceptionally sharp and detailed high-relief architectural panorama celebrating the historic beauty of Leningrad (Saint Petersburg).
The front of the silver-tone metal case showcases a stunning scenic view of the Peter and Paul Fortress (Петропавловская крепость) standing along the Neva River. The composition prominently captures the soaring, golden-spired cathedral bell tower, neighboring chapel domes, and the heavy stone masonry textures of the defensive fortress walls. Overhead, the sky is filled with beautifully embossed, dimensional clouds. The entire oval landscape scene is beautifully enclosed within a highly ornate, sweeping frame completely composed of dense oak and laurel leaf garlands. At the very bottom center of the wreath frame, an integrated banner scroll is cleanly embossed with the Cyrillic landmark text "ЛЕНИНГРАД" (Leningrad). This highly collectible travel souvenir features a refined silver finish with an authentic aged patina.
This vintage cigarette case has been restored: the metal has been cleaned and polished, minor touch-ups have been applied where the original finish was lost, and, if needed, the internal elastic bands have been replaced. The original aesthetics have been preserved, making it a great addition to any collection. The side locking mechanism is completed with a mechanical push-button closure.
