Vintage desktop cigarette case box (or ornamental trinket jewelry storage box) produced in the USSR during the late Soviet period, approximately around the 1970s–1980s.
The box features a sturdy natural wood construction base and side panels, giving it an attractive organic weight. The top hinged lid is fully encased in an anodized gold-tone aluminum metal plate decorated with a dense, repeating embossed scale texture. Positioned at the center of the lid is a large circular high-relief metal medallion showcasing the iconic grand architecture of the main building of Moscow State University (MSU) on Sparrow Hills. The sharply stamped rendering captures the massive socialist realism skyscraper, complete with its tiered wings and towering central spire. Below the building motif, a scrolling banner is cleanly inscribed with the Cyrillic text "МОСКВА — МГУ" (Moscow — MSU). This rare souvenir piece displays an authentic mid-to-late century character and an attractive aged patina.
The hinged lid opens smoothly to reveal an unlined natural wood interior compartment, perfectly sized for storing cigarettes, desk accessories, or pocket keepsakes.

tobacciana, desktop cigarette boxes, and decorative trinket case collections
