Vintage pocket cigarette case produced in the USSR between the 1950s and 1970s by the famous Sanitas Artel in Odessa, Ukraine.
The front of the case features a highly detailed, engine-turned geometric guilloche design in a distinct plaid grid composition. The pattern consists of alternating columns and rows of fine stamped pinstripes and wavy line work, intersecting to create a beautiful tactile structure. This intricate plaid-like arrangement catches the light from different angles, showcasing a beautiful mid-century variation of traditional abstract metal styling. The piece features a refined silver-tone finish with an authentic aged patina.
This vintage cigarette case has been restored: the metal has been cleaned and polished, minor touch-ups have been applied where the original finish was lost, and, if needed, the internal elastic bands have been replaced. The original aesthetics have been preserved, making it a great addition to any collection. The side locking mechanism is completed with a mechanical push-button closure.
