Original vintage magnetic metal cigarette case commemorating one of the most significant cultural milestones in Soviet history: the 150th Anniversary of Alexander Pushkin's birth (1799–1949). This exceptionally rare, museum-grade piece was produced in the Soviet Union in 1949 by the highly celebrated Lenemalier Artel (Artel "Leningrad Enameler" / «Ленэмальер»).
The front of the case displays a high-relief embossed portrait of the legendary Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, framed beautifully at the base by an ornate anniversary scroll featuring the celebratory years 1799–1949.
The reverse side is heavily engraved with historical literary artwork. It features a detailed classical lyre enveloped in olive or laurel branches, sitting next to a beautifully scripted excerpt from one of Pushkin's most famous patriotic poems, "To Chaadaev" (К Чаадаеву):
"Товарищ, верь: взойдет она, звезда пленительного счастья, Россия вспрянет ото сна, и на обломках самовластья напишут наши имена!"
The composition is masterfully completed with an embossed replica of Pushkin’s authentic signature (facsimile). The interior rim near the clasp retains the highly sought-after, authentic factory oval stamp: "ЛЭ" (LE).
