Antique pocket cigarette case crafted in the USSR, featuring a bold, historic high-relief design depicting a legendary "Bogatyr" (ancient Slavic warrior knight), a motif heavily inspired by Viktor Vasnetsov's iconic epic folklore artwork. This specific design, often referred to as "Bogatyr on Patrol" or "Ilya Muromets," was exceptionally popular in the Soviet Union from the 1920s through the 1950s.
The front lid showcases a highly detailed stamped relief of a bearded warrior in traditional scale armor and a conical helmet, raising his hand to his brow as he peers intently into the distance. The scenic background features detailed pine or fir trees and a geometric crenellated fortress wall pattern along the top border. Adding to its unique personal history and social authenticity, the upper right field carries the genuine vintage hand-engraved initials "ЭНБ"—a common mid-century Soviet custom used to personalize personal items in military barracks, factories, or student dormitories. Made from solid brass with a beautiful warm golden tone, this historic item has been meticulously restored: the metal has been professionally cleaned and polished, minor touch-ups have been carefully applied where the original finish was lost, and new elastic bands have been fitted inside to ensure full functionality while preserving its authentic vintage aesthetics.
