Collectible piece of post-World War II Soviet monetary history: an original 5 Rubles State Treasury Note (Государственный казначейский билет СССР), officially dated 1947.

Issued during the famous December 1947 monetary reform under Joseph Stalin, this banknote is deeply prized by historians and numismatists for its rich post-war socialist iconography. The artistic face features a large central decorative numeral "5" wrapped in thick, realistic sheaves of wheat (Колосья пшеницы). The top center prominently displays the official State Emblem of the USSR with 16 ribbons representing the sixteen Soviet republics of that era (including the Karelo-Finnish SSR), while the bottom plate lists the denomination in the 15 other languages of the Union.

Features:

  • 1 single authentic vintage Soviet banknote
  • Year of Issue: 1947 (Post-WWII Stalin Era)
  • Denomination: 5 Rubles / Пять Рублей
  • Serial Number / Prefix: БХ 543963 (Boldly stamped twice in red typography ink)
  • Emblem: Post-war 16-ribbon Soviet Coat of Arms
  • Design: Ornate multi-colored security guilloche geometry fading from grey-blue to deep orange/tan shades
  • Condition: Circulated historic paper grade, true vintage character, natural handling folds, minor corner softness, clean untrimmed borders, and excellent registration details as pictured

A fascinating collectible for:

  • Soviet Union, and early Cold War historical collectors
  • Banknote and paper money specialists (bonistics / post-war currency)
  • Graphic arts, secure security typography, and mid-century state engraving curators
  • Eastern European financial history researchers and archival curators

The banknote is photographed in clear detail against a white background so collectors can closely inspect the background safety mesh patterns, fine text labels, and genuine edge conditions. You will receive the exact item shown in the photo.

Please note:

  • This is an original vintage paper currency item from 1947, not a modern replica, reproduction, or reprint.
  • Natural signs of light handling, soft corners, or minor edge spots are present due to its authentic historical age.
