Vintage 1944–1957 Soviet USSR postage stamp collection. Set of 8 MH stamps featuring Ilya Repin's 100th anniversary art series and the 1957 Academy of Arts jubilee.
Description:
A beautiful historical collection of vintage postage stamps from the Soviet Union (USSR), combining two prominent art-themed releases from 1944 and 1957.
The collection highlights the famous 1944 Ilya Repin 100th Birth Anniversary series, showcasing the master's "Self-Portrait" alongside his legendary historical painting "Cossacks Writing a Letter to the Turkish Sultan". This set is particularly notable for containing both standard perforated and scarce imperforate (unperforated) variants. The bottom row beautifully completes the layout with the full three-stamp commemorative series from 1957 marking the 200th Anniversary of the USSR Academy of Arts, depicting the historic Academy building in St. Petersburg, Shadr's/Egorov's Soviet Soldier monument in Berlin, and Vera Mukhina's iconic "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" sculpture. All stamps are in premium unused Mint Hinged (MH) condition with full original character and no cancellation marks.
Features:
- Set of 8 vintage stamps
- Authentic Soviet Union (USSR) art and historical commemorative issues
- Spans the WWII era (1944) and the mid-century Soviet jubilee period (1957)
- Features both perforated and rare imperforate (unperforated) variants of the Repin series
- Includes the complete 1957 Academy of Arts 3-stamp anniversary series
- Mint Hinged (MH) condition (unused, clean mint condition without postmarks)
