A historically vital and highly detailed thematic collection of vintage commemorative postage stamps issued by the Soviet Union (USSR) in late 1940. This important series was created to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Storming of Perekop (1920–1940), one of the final and most decisive battles of the Russian Civil War in the Crimean peninsula.
The center of this layout features the iconic "Perekop" commemorative series. The masterfully engraved, fine-line designs depict crucial moments of the operation: General Mikhail Frunze at the HQ command post, Red Army soldiers wading through the frozen waters of the Syvash, military maps outlining the tactical advance, monuments to fallen heroes, and dynamic battle charges. The layout is beautifully complemented by three contemporary late-1930s to 1940 Soviet military definitives showcasing Red Army cavalry, a winter ski-scout, and a military pilot. All stamps are in premium unused Mint Hinged (MH) condition with full original character, crisp perforations, and no cancellation marks.

Features:

  • Set of 9 vintage stamps
  • Authentic 1940 Soviet Union (USSR) military and historical commemorative issues
  • Commemorates the historic 1920 Perekop Operation and the end of the Russian Civil War in Crimea
  • Features the key designs from the Perekop series, including tactical battle maps and portraits of Mikhail Frunze
  • Includes additional 1940 Red Army definitive issues (Cavalry, Ski-Scout, and Pilot themes)
  • Mint Hinged (MH) condition (unused, clean mint condition without postmarks)

The set includes stamps with various face values from the 1940 issues, such as:

  • 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 60 kopecks, and 1 ruble values.

A fascinating collectible for:
