Historically rare numismatic artifact from the Transcaucasian regional monetary transition: an original 100,000 Rubles State Currency Note (Денежный знакъ Азербайджанской Соціалистической Совѣтской Республики), officially issued in Baku in 1922.
Released during the high-inflation period just before the formation of the Soviet Union, this large-format note bridges Islamic-Caucasian aesthetics and early Bolshevik iconography. The top border features a beautifully stylized Islamic-style calligraphic block in Azerbaijani language (written in Arabic script). The central text layout is bilingual, integrating legal tender statements in Russian Cyrillic script alongside Arabic script duplicates. The lower left displays the authentic facsimile signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance, Mirza Davud Huseynov, and the cashier.
Features:
- 1 single authentic historical Transcaucasian Soviet banknote
- Year of Issue: 1922 (Early Azerbaijan SSR / Pre-ZSFSR Era)
- Denomination: 100,000 Rubles / Сто Тысяч Рублей
- Graphic design: Ornate columns, heavy dark green/grey geometric security meshes, and round medallions framing the "100000" numerals in Western and Eastern Arabic numerals
- Condition: Circulated historic paper grade, crisp central text plates, full boundaries, natural handling creases, soft corner wear, and authentic archival paper patina as pictured
A fascinating collectible for:
- Azerbaijan, Transcaucasia, and Middle East regional history collectors
- Banknote and paper money specialists (bonistics / provisional emergency hyperinflation notes)
- Islamic calligraphy typography, early Soviet heraldry, and secure printing curators
- Financial history researchers and archival curators looking for genuine Baku mint issues
The banknote is photographed in clear detail against a white background so collectors can closely inspect the background safety mesh patterns, fine text details, signatures, and genuine edge margins. You will receive the exact item shown in the photo.
Please note:
- This is an original vintage paper currency item from 1922, not a modern replica or reprint.
- Natural signs of circulation, handling folds, soft corners, or light edge wear are present due to its authentic historical age and background.
- Carefully packed flat with heavy-duty protective backing and shipped worldwide from Ukraine.
- Import duties or taxes may apply depending on your country’s regulations.
