A fascinating historical set of two authentic regional banknotes from the Russian Civil War era, issued by the State Treasury of the Chief Command of the Armed Forces in South Russia (Билет Государственного Казначейства Главного Командования Вооруженными Силами на Юге России) in 1920.
These notes, often associated with General Denikin's White Army administration, represent the emergency currency issued during the fierce anti-Bolshevik resistance in Southern Russia.
The lot includes:
- 500 Rubles (1920): Features a distinct green-grey design with a small double-headed eagle emblem inside a shield at the top center, ornate guilloche frames, and the series stamp "АК-062".
- 250 Rubles (1920): Features a striking reddish-brown design highlighted by a prominent large double-headed eagle with spread wings at the top center, detailed classical rosettes, and the series stamp "ЯА-070".
Both notes display historical financial signatures of the Head of the Finance Department (Bernatsky) and the Head of the Credit Section.
Features:
- Set of 2 authentic banknotes: 500 Rubles and 250 Rubles
- Official issue of the Armed Forces in South Russia (White Army / Denikin)
- Dated 1920 (Russian Civil War era)
- Distinctive regional double-headed eagle designs on both notes
- Individual series prefixes: "АК-062" (500 Rubles) and "ЯА-070" (250 Rubles)
